Cartoon Skeleton Project

I chose the character Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic because I like the show and I thought it would be pretty interesting to do, and to see how the skeleton might look inside a character I see often. I based the skeleton off of a real horse skeleton from a picture on Google.  I had to make up the wings, which weren't very hard, but I did have to take notice where the bone ended and the feathers started. Obviously feathers don't have bones in them. The head had to be exaggerated to fit her head being so big.  I put the ear bone in for an added visual effect, and to fill up more space in the outline. The neck had to be widened also.  I learned that if you know the basic skeleton of the cartoon animal you are doing, you can easily modify it to fit the disproportional parts of that cartoon.  The hardest part, I think, was to draw the ribs and backbone.  It was hard, because human skeletons are just straight up and down, while horses/ponies have skeletons which are sideways, and the arms and legs attach differently than a human's would.  The picture really helped, though.  I felt I did a pretty good job on this project as a whole.
